Bought this item for our visiting grandson- 4 months old. Assembly was easy with the two of us and the crib is secure and seems well built. There were a few scratches in the finish, but the kids will end up surely putting some more on, so no real bother. The mattress is a 3" foam covered in a vinyl-like material. The instructions state to only use their mattress, We did get a mattress cover, but it is not essential. The sleep deck is low and the sides do not drop, so it is a reach down there to get the baby if you have short arms, or a bad back. There are some others with adjustable mattress heights you may wish to look at if the depth might present an issue, but they were not available when we needed a portable crib. My daughter and son-in-law were very pleased with the crib. Make sure you get portable crib sheets as this is somewhat smaller than a regular crib. The crib folds up and moves easily, although it does not fold as flat as one might like. But, my wife really likes the thicker wood head and foot pieces; these make the crib quite sturdy. This is a well made and good portable crib- we would recommend it to others.I run an inhome daycare and this crib is great. Easy to assemble and meets all new safety requirements. I love that it folds up so that if I do not currently have an infant in my care I can store it easily. I have this a four instead of a five star review because I do wish the wheels attatched to the crib somehow. Mine only set into holes on the underside of the legs so if I move the crib up too far or accidentally lift it when folding it up the wheels fall out and the crib leans and tips while I try to put one or two wheels back in. Other than this small detail it's a great product. The matress it comes with is thick and firm unlike most matresses. I usually had to buy replacement ones just to have a nice one but this crib came with it! Will be buying more of these in the future!Great for travel, adjustable, strong, and great for small spaces. We put a mobile towards the bottom of the feet and works well for eye level of baby. The size is standard for mini sheets and the four that we purchased fit great, as well as the waterproof cover. We just took it on our first trip as we wanted our baby to sleep comfortably and without the wheels it fit in our tiny car. When our baby hits the mattress with his feet it does make somewhat of a loud noise, but he's very strong and don't know if any other crib would also not sound. We're very pleased with this purchase so far.I like this crib quite a bit. My mother purchased it for me as a gift, and we needed it because our daughter is still in a crib (she is 20 months old) and we live in a small house. The crib is in our room but will eventually go upstairs in with the other kids. The ceiling has no dormers, so it is slanted on both sides and not enough room for a regular sized crib along the side walls, this crib will fit perfectly. I withheld the fifth star in my rating as the baby is not here yet and I haven't used the crib in that compacity, but I'm sure I will love it.I'm not one who usuallly writes reviews but I read ALL of them. Every time I set up this amazing little crib (takes 2 secs) when my grand daughter visits I feel like I should finally write one. It is one of the best purchases I have ever made. It's well-made, easy for weak-little-ol-me to fold up and haul to my storage, set up is a breeze, and has been a great size from infant to now beyound 2yrs. It's certainly not one to throw in the back of the car for weekend trips but perfect for when friends or family visit - I love it.I was looking for a portacrib to use in my in-home childcare. New guidelines are in effect this December so I am gradually replacing my 10-year old cribs. Other cribs I looked at fit the new guidelines but cost more and I didn't think they seemed as safe as my old portacribs. The LA Baby Contemporary Style Portable Crib for Institutional Use completely fits my requirements. The mattress is thick enough that I don"t feel I need to purchase a new mattress as well as a crib. It was easy to assemble and it looks great! I will be purchasing another one before December!This crib is sturdy enough for our 18 pound grandson, it does not move when locked. He felt safe in it and was able to sleep well. When he is old enough to stand, I doubt it will remain unmovable, but it's perfect for our purposes now.It was easy to put up and stores well. The baby-now a toddler- has transitioned to a bed.
